CITLoB – Confederation of Interpreting, Translation and Localisation Businesses – is the Indian language industry’s body that aims to bring together all stakeholders within the language ecosystem on one platform for better cooperation, learning, sharing and progress.
CITLoB members include companies or institutions relating to academics, interpreting, language technology, localisation, research and translation.
Tune in and listen to our President, Mr Sandeep Nulkar, talk about how the market has changed post-Covid and get an overview of the current trends, high growth sectors, ideas to reinvent your business and most importantly why it’s the best time for LSPs to enter the Indian market.
Innovation and business reinvention are the lifeline of a business’ economic prosperity and survival. The business world is littered with companies that failed to innovate, adapt, and evolve. Blockbuster, the once ubiquitous video rental company, was the Goliath to Netflix’s David. Yet, it is Netflix that has come to dominate, while Blockbuster was relegated to a lesson learned in the history books. There are many misconceptions about innovation and reinvention—that it is costly or appropriate only for big companies with a large budget.
In his keynote, Steve Chu—President of Treehouse Strategy, a management consulting company, and founder/Director of the Glocalization Organization of Asia Pacific (GoAP)—will challenge these misconceptions and discuss innovation techniques. The keynote address will heed lessons from the annals of corporate history to make the case for what all companies must do to future-proof their business, and what opportunities exist for language companies in South and Southeast Asia.

Opportunities in the language services industry
Translation and interpretation are one of the oldest professions and yet in the last few years the changes in this industry have been amazing. The scope of languages has broadened and with the advent of new technologies, today localization and linguistics are part of a much bigger industry and invite a wide variety of skills and roles. Be it the manga anime industry or the OTT network shows or the widely used multilingual chatbots in the fintech industry, all see a convergence of linguistics + technology + social environment + business skills + cross-domain know-how & many more factors.
The world and increasingly Indian economy is seeing rapid growth in localization. Companies increasingly want to reach a broad base of Glocal consumers to showcase their products & services and need the last mile delivery of their brand message in local languages. Yet we see a scarcity of trained, skilled people in this industry to meet this growing demand.
We invite members from various domains (including who are working in localization) to explore the various career options in this industry, understand the market opportunities, connect & listen to professionals & lastly check out some immediate job options from corporates – all @SAMVĀD 2021!!! Please do join us and be a part of this growing industry !!
AI is here to stay and so does Machine Translation. LSPs and professional translators fear the onslaught of MT, with a fear of losing of jobs and businesses. In fact the story is going to be different. AI-based MT is going to open a whole lot of new opportunities for all of us. It will be a great market enabler for Indian translation industry, which is not a big league now, as the new business models and use cases of MT make translation fast and more affordable of the customers. MT needs a different set of business strategies and professional skills, and it will not kill our LSPs and professional translators. However, to survive the MT uncertainty, redo your everything. We are going to see a new wave in the Indian languages market and this one won’t be an empty promise.
Our event will be concluded by recognizing those members who have contributed to the localization industry.
CITLoB would be felicitating those members who are innovative and have made a difference. We would love everyone to be a part of the award ceremony to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our members.
- As an exciting day comes to a close, we thank all our speakers, delegates, sponsors, expo companies.
- We also talk about CITLoB's next year plans and how we will be shaping the association and announce opportunities to partner with CITLoB on various fronts. Stay tuned, this is not the end, but just a beginning of a journey!
